Food Guide: Hollywood Brown Derby

December 13th, 2011

As I mentioned before, today we will be taking a look at the Hollywood Brown Derby. This restaurant is located at Disney’s Hollywood Studios Park. It is right next to the big Mickey Sorcerer’s hat which is the landmark of Disney’s Hollywood Studios. Unlike the other two restaurants I mentioned in my previous blog posts, the Hollywood Brown Derby requires reservations in advance. As with all restaurants that you are making reservations for, it is a good idea to make your reservations as soon as possible. Please do not wait until you get to Walt Disney World to make reservations at this restaurant. For me, I like to go back to the room and change into something a little more formal before going to this restaurant. If you have been doing some planning before your vacation and went on the Walt Disney World official website, you will notice that this restaurant has three $’s next to it. This signifies that the restaurant is a bit pricey. If you are going to Walt Disney World with small children, it may be a good idea to avoid this restaurant until they are a bit older. A good alternative might be Pizza Planet that is located at the same park as the Hollywood Brown Derby. However, this restaurant might be good if you are going out with your spouse as a special “Date night” without your kids. Now, let’s talk about the food. As I’ve mentioned in previous blogs, I am a big chicken eater. Due to this, I recommend the two roasted chicken breasts. They have a lot of meat on them. As I’ve said before, this restaurant is very pricey. The chicken breasts that I order cost $29. If you are just going there for an appetizer, the Hollywood Brown Derby is world-famous for its cobb salad. I have never personally tried it, but I know people who have and they rave about it. If you would like a full menu of what they offer including a wine list, you could go on the official Walt Disney World website. Just go to www.disneyworld.com Overall, if you are looking for an upscale restaurant to go to on the Walt Disney World property, the Hollywood Brown Derby is an excellent choice in my opinion. If you have ever been to the Hollywood Brown Derby, what dish do you order? If you have never been to the Hollywood Brown Derby, what is your favorite upscale restaurant? Please post your comments below and let the world know your thoughts. Next time on Beyond the Castle, we will take a look at Cape May CafĂ© at Disney’s Boardwalk resort. For now though, as always, have a magical day!
