Hello everyone and welcome to the Thursday edition of Beyond the Castle. In continuation of our Disney planning DVD series, today we will be looking at what you can do outside of the theme parks. For most people, they feel that Disney World is simply the four theme parks and that is it. There is even a smaller group who feel that Disney World is simply the Magic Kingdom and that is it. Through this DVD, however, they show that there is much more to do in Walt Disney World then just going to the theme parks. Under the Beyond the Parks option of the DVD, you are given the sub options of Blizzard Beach, Typhoon Lagoon and Downtown Disney. Each of which has its own unique flair to them. Let’s talk a little bit about Typhoon Lagoon. The Typhoon Lagoon section of the DVD is very short, so I will just go through it really quickly. What the DVD emphasizes about Typhoon Lagoon is that it has the largest inland wave pool in existence. It is also known for its large selection of water slides. Much like the theme parks, Typhoon Lagoon has slides for older kids and younger kids as well. Some of the slides in Typhoon Lagoon have neat names like Crush ‘n Gusher and Gang Plank Falls. There’s also Castaway Creek, which is a lazy river that you can lounge on. This lazy river flows all throughout Typhoon Lagoon. For the younger kids or “Squirts” as the DVD so affectionately refers to them as, there’s Ketchakiddie Creek which is a specific area in Typhoon Lagoon geared towards little kids. Typhoon Lagoon is the perfect water park for those looking to cool off while still being in Walt Disney World. What is your favorite slide at Disney’s Typhoon Lagoon? If you have never been to Walt Disney World, what is your favorite place to cool off where you live? Please post your comments below and let the world how you feel. Next time on Beyond the Castle, we’ll take a look at Disney’s Blizzard Beach water park with the added element of the Disney Vacation planning DVD. For now though, as always, have a magical day!
