Hello Disney lovers. The alarming Disney news of the week is that their movie, Frankenweenie, finished in 5th place at the box office over the weekend. The movie only grossed $11 million over the weekend. Frankenweenie, a story created by Director Tim Burton, is the story of a boy who brings his recently deceased dog back from the dead. What I did not realize about this film is that it was created in 1984 in order for Tim Burton to get into film school. I find it very interesting that Frankenweenie did not do well in the theaters. I’m also not sure why Disney would even associate themselves with Tim Burton. His movies are often dark and disturbing which pretty much goes against the Disney brand. Perhaps the company wants to portray both light, happy stories and also dark, not so fairytale like stories. As far as Frankenweenie is concerned, this idea is apparently not working. What do you think? Do you enjoy Tim Burton’s movies? Why or why not? Do you feel that Disney should associate themselves with Tim Burton? Why or why not? Please post your comments below or E-mail us at admin@beyondthecastleblog.com with your thoughts. For now though, as always, have a magical day!
